Convention Update: Schedule
March 2nd, 2015
The time for booking hotel rooms at the discounted rate has now passed, so if you still need to find lodging for Convention, please visit the Convention 2015 page and check out the links for some alternatives.
We’re expecting the release of an official convention schedule any day now, so this post will be updated when the schedule is released. That being said, it’s a pretty safe bet that our Alumni Association meeting will be the first meeting of the day on Friday. That’s just how we roll, I guess. Once I receive a copy of our official agenda for the meeting, I’ll post it here as well.
So, in short, there are many more details to come, so if you’re a diligent reader of this website… well, first, thanks for checking back here so often and giving my mind license to wander. But yeah, if you check back soon-ish, there will be schedules here in the future. Stay tuned!
Convention 2015 Update: Hotel Deadline
February 21st, 2015
Hello everyone! Hope you’re keeping warm in this Siberian Express or Polar Vortex or the Ice Titan’s Quadrangle or whatever they’re calling “friggin’ cold” these days.
We’ve got an update here regarding Convention, so let’s get to it.
Firstly, the deadline to send your registration form without a late fee has now passed, so anyone that sends out their registration now will be charged a $10 late fee.
Next up is our hotel. Again, this is the hotel where we’ll be staying AND conducting business. There are still rooms available in the block at the group rate. If you have not yet done so, please call the Holiday Inn Georgetown at (202) 338-4600 during regular business hours and tell them you’re going to the Mu Beta Psi Convention.
The reservation cut-off date is Friday, February 27th, so please don’t wait around.
If you have any questions, please contact AA Gathering Committee Chair Erica St. Lawrence at (704) 798-1700 or Tau Chapter President Gaston Reboredo at (954) 292-1706.
Thanks, and see you all very soon!
Convention Update: Hotel Prices
February 1st, 2015
Hey folks! Just an update here for all of you who are looking to stay at the Holiday Inn Georgetown for the group rate.
Cost will be $109/night with and the block is for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. To make a reservation, please call (202) 338-4600 Monday thru Friday, 9am to 4pm and ask for group sales.
Group rate pricing for Convention has ended. Anyone who wishes to book now must pay regular price, or find alternate lodging. Some options are listed below.
For folks’ information, the rooms in the block are 2 double beds, but if you decide you want to pay a little extra and get two queen beds, the room also comes with a pull-out sofa, so that might be a good option for groups that want to split between 6 people. I was not able to get information about how many rooms in the block are left, so please call as soon as possible.
For those that may want to pay a little more to avoid the late-night convention atmosphere, there is Savoy Suites Hotel a little further north on Wisconsin Ave NW for $104/night. The Georgetown Hill Inn, which is slightly further south on Wisconsin Ave NW seems to be a bit more expensive, but currently has a special rate of $149/night. And finally, for those that may want to drive a little bit, there’s a Days Inn at 4400 Connecticut Ave NW that is only $80/night. I’m not sure at all about the availability of rooms or what sort of neighborhood the Days Inn might be in, but those are a few other options.
